Everton are planning to make a fresh bid for Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson having failed to lure the youngster away from Ibrox during the summer, according to a report from the Daily Record.

The Toffees made a number of bids for the 20-year-old in the previous window. The Daily Record reports that the last offer for Patterson was worth £5 million plus add-ons.

Unsurprisingly, the Gers seemingly did not take long to reject the proposal. Patterson has been a revelation during his time in the Rangers first-team. He is certainly a genuine rival for James Tavernier for the right-back role at Ibrox.

Nevertheless, Everton do not plan to give up on signing the youngster. The Daily Record reports that they plan to make another move when the January transfer window opens.

Interestingly, the report notes that the Toffees are aware that they will have to offer significantly more to tempt Rangers into selling the academy graduate. But they want two new full-backs, having reportedly set up a move for Vitaly Mykolenko.

Everton will have to be prepared to spend big to land Nathan Patterson with Rangers under little pressure to sell

Giovanni van Bronckhorst would surely be only too happy to see January pass with Patterson still in his ranks. Not only is he a brilliant right-back, but he has also shown that he is capable of playing on the other flank.

The Gers are under little pressure to sell in January. He has more than two years left on his contract.

Everton therefore, will indeed need to be prepared to spend big to land the starlet.

Much may depend on how Patterson feels about the Toffees reigniting their interest. But surely, he will be open to staying at Rangers this season.

The Gers are in with a great chance of retaining their league crown. They also have a mouthwatering Europa League tie with Borussia Dortmund on the horizon.
