Everton are one of the sides interested in signing Stefan de Vrij as Inter Milan set their sights on extending the defender’s contract, according to a report from Calciomercato.
The Dutchman has proved to be an outstanding signing for the Nerazzurri. He arrived in 2018 on a free transfer following a spell with Lazio.

And he helped Inter win the Scudetto last season. But as reported by Calciomercato, he is now into the final two years of his contract at San Siro.
And it seems that he is attracting a lot of attention. According to Calciomercato, Everton and Atletico Madrid are amongst his admirers.
In fact, they claim half of Europe wants the 29-year-old. And the Toffees are said to be ‘especially’ keen.

But Inter hope to soon quash any speculation about his future. According to Calciomercato, they want to extend his contract by two years.
His wages meanwhile, will reportedly increase to around £74,000-a-week.
Everton landing de Vrij would be an inspired piece of business
It does appear unlikely that de Vrij will leave Inter this summer.
And it is little surprise that they have no interest in letting him go. He was Serie A’s best defender in the 2019/20 campaign.
He obviously followed that by helping Inter to the title last term. And he looks to be the perfect player for that central role in the back three.
Everton completing a deal would have been a huge coup.
Unfortunately for Rafa Benitez, it would appear that they have a lot of work ahead if they hope to complete what would arguably be one of the best pieces of business this summer.
