Everton have joined the hunt for Real Valladolid defender Mohamed Salisu, according to reports.

The Mirror is reporting that the 21-year-old Ghanaian is wanted by a host of teams across Europe, but has already rejected two offers from French clubs as he has his eye set on a move to the Premier League.

A left-footed central defender, the report claims Everton see him as an alternative to Lille star Gabriel, who looks increasingly likely to be joining Napoli this summer.

Salisu would cost a meagre £10 million because of a buy-out clause in his current deal and Everton would add much-needed depth to their flimsy centre-back department.

The defender has been a teammate of Everton outcast Sandro Ramirez this season, with the Spaniard on loan at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla, and has been one of the standout performers as the Blanquivioletas try to stay clear of the La Liga relegation zone.

Salisu has been linked with a host of top clubs and in February it was suggested by AS that he was ‘top of Zinedine Zidane’s list’ for potential defensive transfers in the summer.

Real’s close links with Valladolid owner Ronaldo, the former Brazil and Real Madrid striker, reportedly made it a possible deal.

As reported by Football Made In Ghana, Ronaldo has hailed Salisu’s displays and is also a big fan of his employee.

So Everton are in good company when it comes to considering Salisu a worthy player.

Everton fans would no doubt welcome his arrival.
