Everton are interested in taking Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot on loan next season, with Foot Mercato reporting that Djibril Sidibe is unlikely to return to Goodison Park.

Sidibe has made 23 Premier League appearances for the Toffees this season. Foot Mercato reports that Carlo Ancelotti would like to keep the 27-year-old beyond his loan spell.

However, the report claims that Monaco are looking to sell Sidibe permanently, and thus, another loan is looking unlikely.

And that appears to have prompted Everton to look at a Manchester United man with a question mark hanging over his future.

Foot Mercato reports that negotiations with Dalot’s representatives are now expected to accelerate in the coming days.

The report claims that the 21-year-old could join the Toffees on loan for next season.

It would not be a surprise to see Dalot leave Old Trafford this summer. The Telegraph recently claimed that he was one of the players that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to move on to boost his own kitty.

Of course, a loan would provide less of a boost than a permanent deal. But if Solskjaer is unable to offload him permanently, a loan move may make sense.

He has barely played this season. So playing much more regularly may allow Dalot to put himself in the shop window ahead of next summer.

And it appears that that shop window may end up being situated on Merseyside.
