Everton have joined the race to sign Joe Hugill from Sunderland, but The Sun has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur remain the favourites to sign the starlet.
The 16-year-old has caught the eye after an impressive spell for the Black Cats this term. He has forced his way into the under-23s fold, and made two appearances in Premier League 2.

And with the teenager scoring twice in that competition, it appears that a number of clubs are now considering a move for the forward.
The Sun reports that the Toffees are tracking Hugill as they look to bolster the number of exciting prospects within their ranks.

However, Carlo Ancelotti’s men appear to have plenty of work to do. The Sun notes that Spurs remain in pole position to land Hugill – who was born on the day late goals from Mbulelo Mabizela and Frederic Kanoute gave Tottenham a 2-1 win away at Leicester City.
According to the report, one of the club’s top scouts Ian Broomfield was sent to watch Hugill last week.
TBR View – Opportunities at both Spurs and Everton for Hugill
Hugill will be aware that he will likely have to be extremely patient should he join either Tottenham or Everton in the near future.
He is yet to break into Sunderland’s side. So he will have a lot of work to do should he move to the Premier League.
But he can arguably be optimistic about the future should he join either. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has shown that young strikers can arrive from elsewhere and burst into the first-team fold at Goodison Park.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho is taking his time with Troy Parrott. But Spurs are crying out for more depth up front. And if there is a similar situation in the future, Hugill could perhaps find himself in the right place at the perfect time.
