Everton have reportedly earmarked Aleksandar Kolarov as a potential replacement for Leighton Baines as their new back-up to Lucas Digne as left-back at Goodison Park.
That is according to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb in Italy, who claim that Everton have already been in contact with Roma about a potential deal for the Serbian defender.
The report suggests that Kolarov has left his former agent Sergio Berti to be represented by Alessandro Lucci. With just one year left on his deal at Roma, Kolarov is said to want a move away from the Stadio Olimpico this summer. Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly a big fan of the defender and Everton, therefore, see the two-time Premier League winner him as a perfect option to replace Baines as the club’s left-back substitute.
Like Baines, Kolarov would bring experience and a deadly precision from set-pieces.

Ten years ago, Ancelotti was said to be keen on bringing Kolarov to Chelsea. As reported by Metro, the Italian eventually admitted defeat in signing the Serbian to Manchester City.
“[City] spend plenty and Roberto Mancini is equipping a great squad,” the Italian said. “Wait and see, they will also sign Kolarov and (Edin) Dzeko.”
Now it seems that he is again hoping to secure his services but will again face competition. The report claims that Sevilla are also keen on signing the 34-year-old.
Ancelotti will just be hoping that, on this occasion, he can finally get his hands on the attacking full-back.
