According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton are interested in signing FC Porto forward Luis Diaz, who’s also a target for Tottenham.

What’s the story?

Well, the 24-year-old put his name up in lights this summer after starring for Colombia at the Copa America.

Diaz finished as joint-top scorer at the competition alongside Lionel Messi of all players, with both men scoring four goals.

Now, the 18-cap Colombia international is on the radar of Everton, who are willing to offer James Rodriguez to FC Porto as part of the deal.

Romano believes the Carlo Ancelotti signing is still yet to decide.

However, FC Porto are desperate to have their former star back, and would even accept him returning on loan.

Romano doesn’t mention a fee for Diaz, although Mais Futebol believe he has a release clause worth €80m (£68.6m).

If the Toffees are to sign the South American, they face serious competition from Tottenham.

According to Antena 2, Spurs have scouted Diaz for many years now, so the north Londoners are clearly convinced by the forward.

Interestingly, Everton could be able to talk to his agent quite soon.

Mais Futebol add that Diaz’s agent has travelled to Portugal and Spain, and is now ‘on his way’ to England.

The report doesn’t mention exactly when the striker’s agent will arrive, nor does it specify who he’s coming to speak with.

However, it certainly adds plenty of fuel to the fire.

Keep an eye on this saga, as it should come to a conclusion soon with only days remaining of the transfer window.
