According to a report from The Mirror today, Everton and Chelsea have joined Manchester United in registering an interest in Ivan Toney.

The big striker was on the scoresheet once again this weekend as he continues to impress for Brentford. Toney has become a key figure under Thomas Frank and that form has attracted admiring glances from other clubs.

The Mirror states how United have held a long-term interest in Toney but now, with the deadline looming, Everton and Chelsea are also considering moves for the striker.

Dubbed as being a ‘fantastic‘ striker by Kristoffer Ajer after a performance against Wolves last season, Toney has developed a great understanding with the likes of Bryan Mbuemo and now, Yoana Wissa.

Of course, Brentford are in no rush to sell Toney and even if they were to consider selling, Thomas Frank would be looking for the club to get huge money for his talisman. For Everton, that poses a bit of a problem, given that they’ve already spent the money raised by selling Richarlison on the likes of Onana and McNeil.

TBR’s View: Toney Will Get His Move One Day

Ivan Toney is a quality operator but the reality now for Everton is that they aren’t really the step up from Brentford that they once were.

Sure, the Toffees are a big club. But in terms of competing in the Premier League, the Bees have just as much quality and chance of being around the top ten as Everton now.

A move to Chelsea or United would be a different matter for Toney. They are clubs that he can’t say no to and one day, he’ll probably get his big move. However, it seems a hard one for Everton to do, this.
