Report: Everton scout 23-year-old international with 2018 signing expected to leave next summer
Everton appear to have stepped up their pursuit of Harry Souttar after reportedly sending Duncan Ferguson to watch the Australia international in action for Stoke City.
Souttar has been an outstanding performer for the Potters, particularly this season.
In fact, a look on social media would suggest that he is one of the only players to have received any sort of credit following their defeat to Millwall on Saturday.
Everton would have likely taken note of his latest performance. That is because The Sun is reporting that they have recently scouted the 23-year-old again.
It was previously claimed that Ferguson had been sent to watch Souttar. And it seems that the Toffees have gone to have another look.
It has been claimed, once again, that Everton are expecting to lose Yerry Mina next summer. The Colombian is hoping to secure a move to Serie A. Inter Milan want the defender.
And Souttar could possibly replace him at Goodison Park.
Everton target Souttar may be Championship’s best centre-back
Rafa Benitez clearly has some work ahead. Everton, of course, suffered a hugely disappointing loss on Saturday.
Watford were lethal in front of goal. They put five past Jordan Pickford. But Everton seemed to make their task a lot easier with some very questionable defending.
Souttar is making a case to be considered the Championship’s best centre-back. He also has eight caps for Australia.
The last Aussie Everton signed from the second tier proved to be a very good addition. Perhaps the Toffees are hoping that Souttar can follow in his footsteps in one of the upcoming windows.
