Report: Everton remain keen on Diogo Dalot
Everton remain interested in signing Diogo Dalot as the Toffees consider potential signings at right-back, according to a report from The Athletic.
Rafa Benitez is starting to get to grips with his new squad. And it may not be too long before the Toffees start to bring some new faces through the Goodison Park door.
One area they will surely strengthen in this window is the right-back position.
Mason Holgate and Seamus Coleman shared the role for the majority of last season. Jonjoe Kenny meanwhile, struggled to stake a claim for more game-time with an underwhelming loan spell at Celtic.
According to The Athletic, Everton are, once again, keen on Dalot. Meanwhile, they are also looking at Denzel Dumfries.
Interestingly, The Athletic adds that the amount of speculation linking the Toffees with Max Aarons this summer has surprised some associated with the club.
Dumfries arguably the most exciting right-back target on Everton radar, but Dalot could prove a shrewd signing
Dalot spent the majority of last season on loan at AC Milan. And he subsequently went on to feature for Portugal at Euro 2020.
Manchester United spent £19 million to sign him from Porto. And having not quite managed to establish himself at Old Trafford, perhaps Everton may hold out hope that they can land the 22-year-old for a reasonable fee.
Having said that, Dumfries’ stock seemed to rise considerably during Euro 2020. Interestingly, The Athletic reports that a bidding war is yet to start for the Dutchman.
So perhaps he may be the option that more Everton fans want. But Dalot would certainly have the potential to be a shrewd addition if he did end up on Merseyside.
