Report: Everton refusing to budge on Jean-Clair Todibo transfer fee, would double his salary
Reports in Spain have been detailing Everton’s continued interest in Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
Everton have been linked with a potential swoop for the Frenchman as an alternative to Gabriel Magalhaes, who might be on his way to Napoli, for a number of weeks now.
Now, SPORT is reporting on the current situation regarding Everton’s pursuit of the player.
They claim that Everton and Barcelona have a ‘loose agreement’ over a deal. The Catalan side, however, want €25 million (£22.5m) for the player and Everton are only prepared to pay €20 million (£18m) upfront with another €5 million (£4.5m) in additional add-ons. Everton appear unwilling to budge on that stance.
The report claims that Todibo would double his salary at Everton but Barcelona are hoping for interest from Premier League rivals of Italian side Roma so they can get their preferred asking price.
Unfortunately, Todibo has struggled to showcase the best of his talents since returning to action at his loan club Schalke. A number of poor performances in the Bundesliga have not helped entice other interested parties.
As for Everton, it appears their interest is ongoing and fans can still be hopeful of a potential deal being concluded.
