Report: Everton reach agreement over 'frightening' midfielder, medical in next 48 hours
Everton are reportedly closing in on a move for Idrissa Gana Gueye.
The Toffees have been heavily linked with their former player over the past few weeks.
And today, reports from France suggest Everton are making great progress over a move for Gueye.
Sport Witness have covered two reports – one from RMC Sport and one from L’Equipe.
The first claims that there’s an ‘agreement in principle’ between Everton and Paris Saint-Germain.
Gueye ‘should commit to Everton very soon’, as the medical ‘should take place within the next 48 hours’, added the report.
Meanwhile, L’Equipe has claimed that the negotiations are ‘progressing well’.
Apparently, there are only ‘a few details’ to be sorted between the clubs before the agreement is completely reached.
“He’s a machine”
Everton have already bolstered their midfield ranks this summer by signing Amadou Onana.
But with Abdoulaye Doucoure picking up an injury, it’s no surprise that the Toffees are pushing for Gueye.
It would be a big boost for Everton if they can get a move for their former player across the line.
He showed during his previous spell that he could be one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League.
That form prompted PSG to spend £30million to sign him.
While Gueye’s spell at the Parc des Princes hasn’t quite worked out, he remains an “amazing” player who’d surely be great for Everton.
Micah Richards recently claimed that Gueye would all-but guarantee that Everton would stay up.
He wrote in the Daily Mail: “If Everton get a deal done to bring Idrissa Gana Gueye back, there is not a hope of them being relegated.
“I played with Idrissa at Aston Villa and he’s a machine. He will do the work of two men – the running he can do is frightening.
“I saw him do a drill at Villa, during the middle of Ramadan and his stamina was breathtaking. He was literally running on empty but still beat everyone.”
