Arsenal are said to be right at the front of the queue to sign Everton youngster Thierry Small, the Athletic suggest.

Small has been absent from Everton training all week, as his exit appears to draw closer.
It is claimed that Arsenal have a keen interest in the prospect, who they have been linked with for some time now.
And the Gunners look to be in a strong position to sign the 16-year-old, with Mikel Arteta’s side claimed to be leading the way alongside Manchester United.
Everton are believed to be aiming to keep hold of Small, but his absence from training is a blow on that quest.

Where does Thierry Small play?
If he was to move to Arsenal he would likely be considered as a development prospect rather than a first-team player initially.
However, Small is believed to be one of Everton’s top prospects.
He is capable of playing on either side of defence, although is most comfortable at left-back.
His speed makes him a big attacking threat, and Arsenal could be showing great foresight by making their move to sign him now, as if he goes on to fulfil his potential then he could be a very valuable player in future years.
