Report: Everton preparing ‘concrete offer’ for Real Sociedad defender
MSN have claimed that Everton are considering a move for Real Sociedad defender Modibo Sagnan this month, as the Toffees look to replace the loan departure of Jarrad Branthwaite – after his move to Blackburn Rovers.
Branthwaite, 18, has been loaned to Championship side Blackburn until the end of the season – having only managed one appearance for Carlo Ancelotti’s side during the first half of the campaign. But Everton want a replacement.
Indeed, the report claims they have been scouting Real Sociedad’s 21-year-old centre-back Modibo Sagnan for some time and are now ready to lure him to Goodison Park. Marcel Brands and Everton are considering a ‘concrete offer’.
Sagnan joined Sociedad – one of David Moyes’ former sides – in the summer of 2019 from RC Lens for £4.5million (LaLaSport). He only managed one outing in his first season, but has played 13 times this time around.

TBR’s view – Sagnan unproven, depends on the price
A complete unknown, Mali international Sagnan has only played 46 times at senior level – only 14 of which have come in the form of Sociedad matches. But certainly, he has the potential to shine.
A fee is crucial to whether Everton should sign him. Sagnan was signed for a small fee and therefore there is plenty of maneuverability in terms of resale value. But anything above £15million, and Everton should look elsewhere.
