Everton are planning to make a January bid for Jamie Hamilton, according to a report from the Daily Mail, as the Toffees look to stave off competition from the likes of Southampton and Wolves.
The 17-year-old made his senior debut for Hamilton Academical at the start of this season. He was sent off on his Scottish Premiership bow.
But that has not stopped a number of Premier League and Championship sides taking an interest in the centre-back.
The Daily Mail reports that Marco Silva’s men are leading the charge to sign Hamilton. Meanwhile, the Saints, Wolves, Norwich City and Derby County all reportedly also want the teenager.
The report notes that Everton are plotting a bid for Hamilton in January as they look to ensure that they win the race for the Accies prospect.
Hamilton has not had the best start to life in senior football. But it says a lot that so many top sides are monitoring his development.
Southampton, in particular, have a fantastic record of bringing young players through. Meanwhile, the Canaries have made a number of inspired moves in the market since Stuart Webber arrived at Carrow Road.
He would face a tough task trying to secure a future first-team spot should he join any of his admirers. But he would be forgiven for jumping at the chance to head to Merseyside should Everton come calling in January.
