Report: Everton player could be off to Russia

Russian website Championat have claimed that CSKA Moscow could be about to sign Everton striker Cenk Tosun this month – a move that would see the Turkish striker link up with Nikola Vlasic.

Tosun, 29, has struggled for game time at Everton once again this season – managing just seven appearances and scoring only once. His place in Turkey’s Euro 2021 squad is under threat, and CSKA want to take advantage.

A move is expected for Tosun before the deadline and he has been linked with West Brom, as well as a return to his home country. But now, a move to Russia is on the cards – in a move that sees Tosun link up with Vlasic.

It is unclear if a move for Tosun is a loan deal, a loan that includes a permanent option – or a permanent deal from this month. Either way, Everton are ready to sanction his exit as he continues to struggle at Goodison.

TBR’s view – Tosun move to CSKA is a no-brainer

For all involved. For CSKA, they will be getting a player that will score goals on a regular basis in Russia. Good in the air, strong hold-up play and good with his feet – Tosun has also shown with Turkey that he is a leader.

He is simply lacking in confidence. For Everton, getting him off the books has become a formality and for the player, he needs a fresh start. CSKA sit second in the league and it also gives Tosun a chance of silverware. A no-brainer.
