Loaned-out Everton player Theo Walcott is reportedly expected to make a permanent move to Premier League rivals Southampton this summer.

The 32-year-old attacker is currently on a season-long loan at St Mary’s with Southampton from parent club Everton.

According to talkSPORT, the 32-year-old is going to be joining Southampton on a free transfer at the end of the season, and he’s “keen” to get a long-term contract with them.

The report explains there is a big desire from both the player and the Saints to arrange the permanent deal, especially as the latter fear another club could swoop in for his signature.

With Walcott’s Everton deal at Goodison Park expiring at the end of the season, it’s no surprise to hear plans for his future are already being made.

The English forward scored 11 goals in 85 Everton appearances, but he’s looked much sharper this campaign with Southampton, and has reignited a career that was hitting a bit of a standstill.

TBR’s View:

Walcott, who still possesses great speed at his age, has been a match made in heaven for the Saints.

The versatile attacker can play as a right-winger or central forward, and he’s gained the trust of Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Meanwhile, Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is looking to bring European football to Merseyside, and is now beginning to build the squad in his image.
