Everton are reportedly firmly in the race to sign defender Gabriel Magalhaes from French top-flight club Lille.
According to Sky Sports, the Toffees are one of four teams to make an offer for the centre-back alongside an unnamed English club and two sides from Italy.
It is understood that a deal for his exit could be finessed in 10 days at the beginning of April and that he’s likely to cost interested suitors around £30million.
The Independent previously reported that the Ligue 1 star passed offsite medical checks ahead of a potential move to Everton and a contract offer had been given to his representatives, but the break in football due to COVID-19 means he could bide his time with a decision about his future.
Gabriel, 22, has impressed this season for a Lille team sat fourth in Ligue 1 and it looks like he could get a transfer for next season.
The left-footed Brazilian centre-back has played 34 games across all competitions this campaign, with his pace and power making him a promising young star.
Everton certainly need a new centre-back added to their squad for next season and the Lille defender looks like he could be a top signing, especially for the quoted £30million price tag.
It’s unclear on if Carlo Ancelotti’s side will win the race for him, but they now have a top manager that should be able to attract players to Goodison Park and he is an ambitious man that will have big plans on Merseyside.
There has to be improvements made at the back for Everton going into next year, as they have conceded 46 goals already in 29 league games this season.
