Report: Everton now want to sign £13m defender who’s a ‘great team player’, Leeds are also keen

Everton manager Frank Lampard will be looking at the January transfer window as a chance to bolster his squad.

The Toffees made some significant signings in the summer, and a number have slotted straight into his team.

A report from Italian publication Pianeta Empoli suggests Everton are already lining potential new additions.

Everton’s recruitment in the summer focused on building a new spine to the team.

Conor Coady and James Tarkowski have been rocks at the back, and a host of new midfielders have joined the club.

Amadou Onana looks like a phenomenal talent, and Idrissa Gueye’s experience has already come in handy.

Pianeta Empoli now believe that Everton want to sign left-back Fabiano Parisi.

The 22-year-old has been a regular in Serie A this season, and earned a call-up to the Italian senior squad last month.

Parisi already has two goals this season, and could provide competition for Vitaliy Mykolenko.

Lampard has barely used Ruben Vinagre, and doesn’t appear to rate the on-loan defender.

Parisi could be the player to come in and seriously challenge the Ukrainian full-back.

Everton want to sign Parisi

The report suggests that Everton ‘seem to be serious’ about Parisi and ‘could present official offers’.

They believe that Empoli would be looking for around £13m if they were to sell the young Italian, although a move in the summer is more likely than in January.

Everton aren’t the only club interested in Parisi, with Leeds also recently credited with interest.

The left-back has been described as a ‘great team player’ and ‘top notch’ by his agent.

Parisi is an exceptional dribbler, and ranks among the best full-backs in Europe at carrying the ball.

This is in contrast to Mykolenko who Lampard has urged to improve his attacking output.

Parisi undoubtedly has potential, but Everton need to weigh up whether he’s ready for the Premier League now.

Given the amount of interest in him, Everton may need to move sooner rather than later if they want to sign Parisi.

The 22-year-old could end up with plenty of options to choose from when the time comes to move on.

Lampard will be hoping he decides that Everton is the best place to take the next step in his career.
