Everton are interested in signing Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo, but face competitions from other Premier League clubs.

According to The Daily Mail, Everton, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are all keen on the 22-year-old forward.

The report states that Bristol City want £15m for the Ghanaian international, who has just a year left on his contract.

The attacker has yet to play for Bristol City this season, after picking up a shin injury on his international debut for Ghana in June.

He’s expected back at some point next month, although this could affect any medical he has with a new club.

Everton interested in signing Semenyo

Semenyo had his breakout season in the Championship last year, contributing to 20 Bristol City goals in 31 league appearances, and forming a brilliant partnership with striker Andi Weimann.

He’s the latest player to be linked with providing Everton with some much-needed attacking cover.

Anthony Gordon has started both of Everton’s Premier League matches this season as their most advanced forward.

The young Englishman, who has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park, has struggled away from his normal role on the wings.

Everton already required cover for Dominic Calvert-Lewin after Richarlison moved to Tottenham, but his injury has only compounded issues for Frank Lampard.

Lampard has watched Semenyo before

Lampard has previously spoken about Semenyo during his time as Derby County manager.

Lampard’s Derby side defeated Bristol City 2-0 back in 2019, and Semenyo was sent off harshly for Lee Johnson’s side, with Lampard commenting: “I sympathise with the player (Semenyo) and I sympathise with Lee Johnson because when you’re in the moment you feel that one could have gone either way, so it’s a horrible feeling.”

It was only Semenyo’s fifth career league appearance and he’s not been sent off again since, but it may not have been the best first impression to make on Lampard.

If Everton do decide to bid for the young Ghanaian, he will have plenty of time in training to prove he’s the right fit for the struggling Premier League side.
