Everton want to sign Swedish international striker Viktor Gyokeres from Championship outfit Coventry City.

A report by Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt claims that the Toffees are among the clubs interested in the hitman.

Everton have still not properly replaced Richarlison and have been focusing on midfield additions more recently.

But they still need firepower and are looking at the man who was Coventry’s top scorer last season with 18 goals in all competitions.

Everton want Viktor Gyokeres

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins said of the striker when asked if a performance against Blackpool last season was the best he’s seen since he came to the club: “It’s got to be up there.

“I thought he was outstanding, his running power was a joke.”

Asked if he sees him as a future Premier League player, Robins said: “Hopefully he can. He’s been called up into the Sweden squad and played some minutes in the full international set-up, so that’s something else that’s coming for him.

“So things are moving in the right direction for him. He is still learning the game but a lot of the work that he does with his power and his pace, and obviously he’s got an eye for a goal.

“There are still areas that he can work on clearly but yeah, I think he has got a lot of really good attributes to allow him to play at the top level at some point.”

It remains to be seen how much Coventry would demand for their top marksman but they will know that Everton have the Richarlison money to spend and need a marksman.

It would be a big jump to the top flight for the Swede but on the evidence of last season, he is all set to make the jump if he gets the chance.

But Coventry have their own promotion hopes and Robins will hope that Gyokeres can become a Premier League player this time next year in a sky blue jersey.
