Everton prospect Rhys Hughes is reportedly attracting loan interest ahead of next season.

Hughes, 19, is a young talent in the Toffees academy, who’s been a key figure in the Under-23s side this season.

He’s scored two goals and made five assists in 18 Premier League 2 appearances.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the midfielder is already wanted by teams in the Championship for next season.

The report explains that the Merseyside club may sanction a loan exit from Goodison Park next summer or possible wait until January.

He signed his first professional deal with Everton back in January 2020 and is under contract until June 2022, but he’s still waiting to make a first-team debut.

If he were to leave on loan, it would be a first taste of senior football.

TBR’s View:

Hughes is a highly-rated talent that is extremely versatile, showing that he can play anywhere across the midfield.

The Welshman, who is with his nation’s Under-21s side during the international break, really needs to experience senior football if he’s eventually going to follow the path into the Everton first team.

Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti has shown he’s prepared to put faith in younger players if they are good, which should be a big incentive to all the academy stars.
