Everton have reportedly made contact with AC Milan regarding the potential signature of Alessio Romagnoli this summer, according to reports.

Sempre Milan is claiming that the Toffees, as well as Atletico Madrid, have been in contact regarding the signature of the Rossoneri captain in recent months.

Everton’s search for a centre-back is well known, especially one capable with their left foot. The £30 million hunt for Gabriel at Lille is well covered.

Romagnoli would be a similar acquisition, and with concerns over Gabriel’s commitment to a move, it could be Romagnoli is being eyed as an alternative.

Romagnoli is also represented by super-agent Mino Raiola, who has good relations with the Everton director of football Marcel Brands and facilitated the signing of Moise Kean from Juventus last season.

Well, unfortunately, the Milan star is seemingly going nowhere. Instead, the same source claims that Romagnoli is committed to signing a contract extension that would tie him to the San Siro until 2024.

Romagnoli is certainly a top talent and Everton fans would have welcomed his arrival. The 25-year-old has long been considered the ‘next Maldini’ at Milan and Carlo Ancelotti even appears to be a fan. Both Napoli (Le Bombe Di Vlad) and Bayern Munich (SPORT) were linked with the player during Ancelotti’s respective reigns at the clubs.

Romagnoli, who was reportedly (Tuttosport, relayed by Football Italia) a €40 million (£35m) target for Barcelona last summer, looks set to stay and try and forge a legendary career for himself in Italy. Everton will be looking elsewhere for their centre-back options.
