Everton have reportedly set sights on Spartak Moscow forward Shamar Nicholson.

According to The Independent’s transfer deadline day live feed (15:58), the Toffees are interested in the Jamaica international.

Likewise, The Telegraph’s transfer deadline day life feed (15:33) commented on Everton’s apparent interest in Nicholson.

The Blues have reportedly made an enquiry to Spartak for the 25-year-old.

The Telegraph’s report added: ‘However, for obvious reasons, the Russian club is not thought to be the easiest for an English Premier League side to negotiate with at the moment so it may be a dead end.’

Everton brought in a new centre-forward this summer, signing Neal Maupay from Brighton late on in the window.

However, the Toffees are reportedly looking for more attacking reinforcements before the transfer window shuts.

Everton target Nicholson – factfile

Nicholson came through the ranks at Jamaican outfit Boys’ Town FC.

In 2017, he joined Russia’s NK Domzale, registering 20 goals and four assists from 56 outings.

Two years later, Nicholson linked up with Belgium’s Charleroi, playing for them until January 2022.

During his time at Charleroi, he registered 31 goals and 11 assists from 83 appearances.

Nicholson then returned to the Russian leagues, joining Spartak Moscow in a reported £7.2m deal.

To date, he has eight goals and two assists from 22 outings.

In addition, Nicholson has 31 caps for Jamaica and 10 international goals to his name.

Earlier this year, Total Football Analysis published an in-depth scouting report about the 6ft 4in striker.

Here is an excerpt from their analysis piece.

‘With his height of 6’4”, this makes him an excellent target for crosses and balls whipped into the box,’ they wrote.

‘This also allows him to showcase his lethal finishing ability in and around the penalty spot.

‘However, he also has played in wide left positions earlier in his Charleroi career.

‘While he has now transitioned into an out-and-out #9, his ability to play out on the left flank if needed will be very helpful for Spartak.’
