Everton midfielder Andre Gomes is the subject of interest from Benfica this summer.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Portuguese giants have enquired about the availability of the former FC Barcelona star.
As per the report, Rafa Benitez is eager to sell the Everton maestro as a way to lower the club’s wage bill.

Gomes broke through at Benfica and established himself as one of Portugal’s top talents in 2012.
Now, aged 27, As Aguias are eager to re-sign their former player. The midfielder played 28 games for Everton last campaign.
Indeed, former manager Carlo Ancelotti is a fan of the midfielder. The Italian coach labelled Gomes as ‘fantastic’ following a 2-1 win against Leeds United last season via the club’s official Twitter account.

However, it appears that new boss Benitez is keen to move on the playmaker. The former Newcastle United manager is keen to refresh the squad. Fabian Delph is also listed as a player who can leave this summer.
The Spanish coach has been quick to add new players to the Toffees squad this summer. This week has seen Asmir Begovic, Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray join the side.
As reported by the Times, Everton are also keen on Burnley attacker Dwight McNeil, and selling Gomes could aid the Merseyside club in signing the England youth international.
