Everton are reportedly primed to sign Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
According to Spanish publication Sport, the Frenchman is set to depart the Nou Camp after only signing in January 2019, with the Toffees in pole position.
Todibo spent last season on loan at German side Schalke, and made 10 appearances in total for the Bundesliga side.
The player appears not to be in the plans of Quique Setien, who wants a quick sale on the former Toulouse starlet.
Todibo, 20, is expected to set Everton back around £18 million, and his arrival would add some much-needed cover to the centre-back position.
Last term, Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate were the options at the back, with all three of them playing at once on occasions.
Todibo is capped at youth international level having represented the U20s.
TBR’s View – Todibo a risk worth taking
He hasn’t played a lot of football in the space of the past year, but Todibo’s quality and promise are undeniable.
Standing at 6ft 3in, Todibo is an imposing figure, and he is also a strong ball-player as is the trend with young centre-halves in the game today.
For £18 million he would represent a slight risk, but he is probably worth it purely for the high ceiling he has.
There is surely a good chance of the deal coming to fruition – Everton have a good relationship with Barcelona having secured the signings of Andre Gomes, Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina in recent times.
