Everton have supposedly made a last-ditch attempt to try and sign long-term transfer target Malcom.
According to Sport, the Toffees have lodged a £40 million bid for the out-of-favour Barcelona player, who was said to be close to sealing a move to Champions League club Zenit Saint Petersburg for £35 million plus £5 million add-ons.
The development comes after the club failed with a £55 million bid for Wilfried Zaha last week (Sky Sports).

Malcom is a player who has been frequently linked with Everton over the last year.
Even before his switch to the Nou Camp he was being linked with a move to Goodison Park.
Following the arrival of Antoine Griezmann at the club, Malcom has been pushed even further down the pecking order.
Last term he made just six league appearances, so there appears to be a good chance he’ll leave the club this summer.
TBR’s view
Following the rejected bid for Zaha, it is unsurprising to see Everton make a late play for Malcom.
It looks as though David Neres will be staying with Ajax for another season, so it makes sense for the club to target his fellow Brazilian.

It is forgotten, due to his role at Barca, what a good player Malcom actually is.
The exciting forward would be a great addition for the Toffees, who desperately need to replace Ademola Lookman and upgrade on Theo Walcott.
