Report: Everton join Leicester in hunt for Boubakary Soumare
According to Foot Mercato, Everton have now joined the race the sign Leicester City target, Boubakar Soumare.
The Toffees are apparently the latest in a long line of clubs to show an interest in Soumare. Foot Mercato claiming that the Lille midfielder’s future is far from sorted, despite claims that Leicester have offered him a £5m-a-year contract.
Soumare, 22, is thought to be one of the most in-demand midfielders in Europe at the moment. He has excelled in Lille, making 41 appearances across all competitions this season.
He has been a driving force behind Lille’s quest to dethrone PSG at the top of Ligue 1. That dream is very much close to becoming a reality, with the Paris side four points behind Lille with just two games to play.
Soumare, though, looks like he could be off in the summer. His form for Lille hasn’t gone unnoticed at all and even the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal are thought to have checked on his progress.

Everton will probably need to secure European football to have a chance of beating the Foxes to the punch here. Brendan Rodgers’ men look likely to make the Champions League, so Soumare could be tempted.
But Everton are a huge club in their own right. And the idea of working with Carlo Ancelotti could also entice the French under-21 star.
Soumare looks every bit the Premier League ready player and if Everton can land him, they’ll have pulled off quite the coup.
