Everton are interested in signing Swansea City centre-back Joe Rodon, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
It would be little surprise to see Carlo Ancelotti prioritise bolstering his centre-back options this month. The Toffees lack numbers in that area of the field, and can hardly afford to lose any of their options to injury.
And it appears that Marcel Brands has one eye on those impressing in the EFL. The Daily Mail suggests that Everton are interested in both Jarrad Branthwaite and Rodon.
Rodon has made 13 appearances for the Swans in the Championship this term. And he has helped Steve Cooper’s side keep one of the better defensive records this season. Only six sides have conceded fewer goals.
The Wales international has been really impressive since making his Swans debut in 2018. Not many players get the better of the 6 foot 4 inch defender in the air.
And he is very comfortable with the ball at his feet. Whoscored.com shows that he boasts a pass-completion rate of nearly 85 percent.
At 22, there is clearly room for further improvement. So he would arguably be a very exciting signing for the Toffees if he did move to Goodison Park this month.
Everton have had plenty of success when signing players from the Football League in recent years. Rodon looks to have the attributes to be another success story if he heads to Merseyside.
