Report: Everton interested in Spain U21 international Gonzalo Villar

Everton are reportedly interested in Elche midfielder Gonzalo Villar.

According to Alicante Plaza, the Toffees are one of many teams keen on the U21 international, who has a contract until 2021.

The starlet has been making a big impression in the Spanish Segunda division, making 20 appearances.

The report claims AS Roma are one of the many sides interested in Villar and have actually lodged a bid thought to be worth around €3 million/£2.5 million.

Atalanta and Juventus are also named by the report.

Everton are currently light in midfield, with Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin out injured.

Villar appears set for a bright future, but he surely isn’t someone who can make a big difference for Everton right now.

Carlo Ancelotti needs to bring in players with a bit more experience and quality.

He needs individuals who can challenge the existing crop and the mediocrity they have shown so far this season.

Youngster Villar is someone who does fit the Marcel Brands transfer policy, but he cannot be the only fresh face this window if he is to pitch up at Goodison Park.
