Italian outlet CalcioMercato have claimed that Everton are rivalling Inter Milan for the signature of Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini ahead of the summer window, as Carlo Ancelotti looks to the Serie A for signings.
Ancelotti has been linked with a whole host of Serie A players, including Napoli’s Allan and Dries Mertens – as well as more recently Torino captain Andrea Belotti. Now, Pellegrini is the latest to be considered for an Everton switch.
Pellegrini, 23, joined Roma in the summer of 2017 from Sassuolo after impressing in green and black. Naturally an attacking midfielder, the 12-time Italy international has rediscovered his best form this season – having a hand in 14 goals in 24 games.
Indeed, Pellegrini has scored three himself but perhaps more noticeable are his assists. He has laid on a whopping 11 goals this season, nine of which have come in 18 Serie A outings. Everton are keen, with Pellegrini worth £27million.

TBR’s view – Do Everton need Pellegrini?
Certainly. Everton are crying out for a central midfielder. Jean-Philippe Gbamin has been injured for the entire campaign since his move, while Fabian Delph has struggled since his. Morgan Schneiderlin’s future at the club is beginning to wind down.
Tom Davies, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Gomes are excellent options, but Sigurdsson’s form has begun to decline. Indeed, the Icelandic star has only laid on two assists in 26 Premier League games this season.
Everton need more creativity from midfield, and Pellegrini would be the ideal addition.
