According to Le Quotidien du Foot, Everton are interested in signing Lucas Tousart. The Lyon midfielder faces stern competition for a place in Slyvinho’s squad, with Thiago Mendes, Houssem Aouar, Jean Lucas and Pape Cheikh all challenging for a midfield berth. The Toffees, for their part, are said to be targeting the 22-year-old as a potential replacement for Idrissa Gueye.
PSG are thought to be interested in signing Gueye this summer, as reported by the Telegraph. If this deal were to be made, then it would pave the way for Tousart to arrive at Goodison Park.
Tousart certainly has plenty of quality and a great deal of potential. The France under-21 international could flourish in Marco Silva’s midfield. Tousart could shine alongside the likes of Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph and Tom Davies. Marco Silva would certainly back himself to be able to bring the best out of the young star.
Signing Tousart would also be a statement of intent. As disappointing as it would be to lose Gueye, signing such a promising and highly-rated talent would indicate the Merseyside club’s enduring ambition. Everton fans would surely find the loss of Gueye easier to take if it allowed Tousart to arrive at the club in his place.
