Turkish website Fanatik have claimed that Everton are one of three European clubs to have ‘taken action’ in a move to sign Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. The goalkeeper is attracting interest from Everton, Sevilla and Ajax. He could cost in the region of £17million.
Bayindir, 23, has been excellent for Fenerbahce over the last couple of seasons. The one-time Turkey international is certainly improving. Clocking up 70 senior outings for Fener, Bayindir only kept five clean sheets in his first 35 games. But in his second 35, last season, he kept 12.
His form has attracted the attention of numerous European sides – especially given he is impressing at such a young age. Everton, Ajax and Sevilla have all ‘taken action’ over a move to sign Bayindir. Despite the presence of Jordan Pickford, Everton could do with a goalkeeper.

Is Bayindir too expensive, as cover for Everton star Pickford?
Everton need a back-up goalkeeper. Robin Olsen is only on loan and it looks more than likely that the Sweden international will return to parent club Roma. So, Everton need to bring in a replacement. Bayindir fits the bill. He is young, has plenty of experience already, as well as bags of quality.
But there are a couple of issues. He would cost £17million – a massive fee for a player that warm the bench. With Everton failing to get into Europe, Bayindir would only get game time from the Cup competitions. So, he is probably too expensive as a second-choice goalkeeper.
