Everton are reportedly in talks to re-sign Kurt Zouma from Chelsea.
Le10 Sport have claimed the Toffees are having discussion with the Blues, following Frank Lampard’s decision not to include the Frenchman in the matchday squad against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
The 25-year-old started the two opening games against Brighton and Liverpool but was mysteriously absent against the Baggies.
Le10 Sport say Chelsea are listening to offers for Zouma, and Everton are strongly pushing to get him back after he enjoyed a successful loan spell at Goodison Park in 2018/2019.
Apparently, according to the publication, an offer of €40 million/£36.5 million could be enough for Chelsea to sell.
Everton have done terrific business so far in the window with the signings of midfielders James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure, but fans are hopeful a new defender will be signed before the window closes on October 5.
TBR’s View – Everton should try to haggle
Zouma would be a very popular transfer given how he performed for the club on loan.
But £36.5 million is quite steep and Marcel Brands should certainly be looking at getting that more towards the £30 million mark.
He didn’t have the best of seasons last term, but £40,000-a-week star Zouma (Spotrac) is a fearsome central defender on his day and he would undoubtedly improve Everton at centre-half.
