Italian outlet Arena Napoli have claimed that Everton are in contact with super agent Mino Raiola over a move for free agent Zlatan Ibrahimovic, after the superstar veteran’s contract expired at MLS side LA Galaxy.
Ibrahimovic, 38, is on the lookout for a new club after finishing the 2019 campaign with LA Galaxy, in which he scored 31 goals in 31 games – as well as laying on eight assists. Indeed, the Swedish star shows no signs of slowing down.
The report claims that the former Manchester United and Barcelona star has his heart set on a return to Serie A, where he played for both Milan clubs and Juventus. Nothing is yet to be finalised, though.
Now, Everton have arisen as a possible destination. It is believed Everton are willing to make Ibrahimovic their highest-paid player, more than Bernard – offering Ibrahimovic a contract until the end of the season with a view of extending that until 2021.
TBR’s view – Ibrahimovic would be a stunning signing for Everton
Not only would Ibrahimovic be an excellent signing given that he is still one of the best centre-forwards in the game despite his age, and that he would be available on a free, but also because Everton are crying out for a striker.
The Toffees are yet to replace Romelu Lukaku. Cenk Tosun and Moise Kean have been bought for figures close to £30million, but neither have done the trick. Ibrahimovic would be a stunning signing for many reasons.
