Report: Everton have now made approach for striker Ludovic Ajorque
Everton have made an approach for Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque in the last few hours, with Foot Mercato reporting that the Toffees have asked about what it would take to land the 28-year-old this summer.
The Toffees will surely sign a new striker in the final stages of the window. Reports this week claimed that Everton have made a move to try and sign Ché Adams from Southampton.
But he is not the only forward they are after. According to Foot Mercato, Everton have now stepped up their interest in a deal for Ajorque.
In fact, the Toffees have made contact with the Ligue 1 side in recent hours to try and understand what offer would be needed for an agreement.
And with that, Frank Lampard’s men could make a loan bid that comes with a £15.2 million option to buy. Discussions have already taken place over a potential deal.
Everton have made Ajorque approach
Strasbourg were the side to hand Ajorque his chance in the top-flight. And he has taken his opportunity with both hands.
In Ligue 1, he has scored 45 goals in 122 games. And in the last two campaigns, he has scored 28 times.
But his game is about so much more than just the goals he scores. Few strikers work harder for the team than Ajorque.
Anthony Gordon gave it everything at the weekend as he was tasked with leading the line against Chelsea. He did cause problems for the Blues’ defence. But obviously, not being a striker meant that he was often getting onto the ball in less dangerous positions.
Ajorque would potentially tick a lot of the same boxes when it comes to work-rate. But crucially, he does have the ability to find the back of the net often.
Perhaps we will soon learn if he is Goodison Park-bound.
