Everton have reportedly had a bid of £13.3 million accepted by River Plate for starlet Santiago Sosa.
The Toffees are claimed by Argentinian outlet Ole to be closing in on their second signing of the summer, after goalkeeper Jonas Lossl recently penned a three-year deal.
Ole understand that Everton are waiting on a work permit for the player, having agreed to pay the player’s release clause.
Should the move go through, it will be the second time the Merseyside outfit have done business with River, after they signed Ramiro Funes Mori in 2015.
Sosa has only turned out four times for the club, but has evidently shown enough ability and promise.
Sosa is a player who very much fits what director of football Brands is trying to bring to Everton.
The Dutch chief wants younger players with high potential – and Sosa could be worth a lot of money in a few years if he continues his exciting development.
The 20-year-old is a defensive minded midfield player who could slot alongside Idrissa Gueye or Andre Gomes if the former leaves or the latter doesn’t sign permanently.
Everton could do with some cover, with James McCarthy likely to leave and Tom Davies potentially heading out on loan.
