ESPN Brasil has claimed that Everton have seen an eight-figure offer rejected for Palmeiras wonderkid Gabriel Veron, and The Toffees now face competition for Arsenal and Barcelona ahead of the summer window.

Veron, 17, has already broken into the Palmeiras senior side – scoring two goals in four games for the Brazilian giants under Vanderlei Luxembergo. A 16-time Brazil Under-17 international, Veron has already gathered enormous pedigree.

Everton are said to have been initially interested, making a £13.2million offer for Veron – but that has been rejected. Now, Arsenal and Barcelona are interested in the winger – but they will have to stump up a huge figure to land the wonderkid.

Indeed, the report claims Palmeiras want as much as £26.5million for their young starlet. Such a figure would see him become Palmeiras’ second most-expensive sale behind Gabriel Jesus, but more so than Brazilian legend Rivaldo.

TBR’s view – Veron can become one of the world’s best

Palmeiras know what they have on their hands. To have already scored two goals in four appearances for Palmeiras at a decent level in the form of Brazil’s top tier, Veron can be anything he wants to be – if his application is just as good.

Arsenal have used the Brazilian leagues as a scouting pool of late. Landing Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano, Mikel Arteta also signed Pablo Mari from Flamengo. Martinelli has turned out to be one of the signings of the season.

Though Veron is expensive, he could be a super signing for the Gunners.
