Everton are reportedly interested in bringing Takehiro Tomiyasu to Goodison Park, according to Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness.
The outlet claims that the Toffees have been following the 22-year-old defender, but face competition from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan.
Tomiyasu has made a name for himself at Bologna, making 58 competitive appearances for them since his 2019 move from Sint-Truiden.
This season, the Japan international has made 26 Serie A appearances, helping the Rossoblu into 11th spot in the standings.
A versatile player, Tomiyasu has featured plentifully at right-back and centre-back, and has also covered twice at left-back during his time at Bologna.
As noted on Whoscored, he is very strong in aerial duels, and strong in dribbling, blocking the ball, concentration and ball interception.
According to the stats website, Tomiyasu has averaged 1.5 tackles, 2 interceptions, 3.6 clearances and 0.7 blocks per league game this season.
And there have been numerous standout performances too – in February’s 3-0 win over Parma, he made two tackles, four interceptions, six clearances and two blocks.
Earlier this season, in September’s meeting with AC Milan, Tomiyasu made seven clearances, three blocks and two interceptions.
Given his talent, versatility and potential, he’d be a good shout for Everton, and for a reported £18million, he wouldn’t break the bank either.
