Report: Everton eye Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori on loan

Everton are interested in signing Fikayo Tomori, with The Telegraph reporting that Carlo Ancelotti is waiting to see if Chelsea are willing to loan out the defender this summer.

The Toffees arguably need to improve their defensive options during this window. They conceded 56 goals in the Premier League last term.

The Telegraph reports that Tomori is on Everton’s radar. However, they are yet to find out whether Frank Lampard is willing to let the 22-year-old leave on a temporary basis.

Rennes also reportedly want the youngster. But Everton perhaps have a potential advantage having taken Kurt Zouma on loan from the Blues in 2018.

That proved to be a successful spell for the France international. So perhaps Chelsea may keep that in mind as they decide what would be best for Tomori.

Tomori could be a smart addition to Everton ranks if he does head to Goodison Park. He is quick, has an excellent range of passing and is very comfortable on the ball.

Admittedly, Everton fans would be forgiven for having a problem with another loan move. Signing Tomori for next season does not solve their issue in the long-term.

It was a big blow to miss out on bringing Zouma back to Merseyside last year. And it will be just as frustrating if Tomori joins and subsequently shines for the club before returning to his parent club.

But if Ancelotti is struggling to bring in a permanent signing in that area of the field, there may be some who feel that signing Tomori on loan is better than leaving the options as they are.
