Report: Everton eye Bailey and Chukwueze
Everton are once again interested in Samuel Chukwueze and Leon Bailey this summer as Rafa Benitez looks to bolster his wide options, according to a report from The Athletic.
The Toffees are awaiting their first new addition of the window. But with Benitez now in place at Goodison Park, it would be no surprise to see the club now step up their transfer plans.
And it appears that that could involve reigniting past interest in two particular targets this summer.
The Athletic reports that Everton are once again keen on Bailey and Chukwueze.
Bailey enjoyed his best season yet with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. The Jamaica international scored nine goals and contributed eight assists in the top flight alone.
Chukwueze meanwhile, helped Villarreal win the Europa League. He did not play in the final due to injury. But he did produce an assist in each of the three previous rounds.
The Nigerian has a release clause of £68.7 million. However, La Razon previously claimed that the Yellow Submarine have little chance of receiving such a fee for Chukwueze.
Who should Everton prioritise: Bailey or Chukwueze?
With both players featuring predominantly on the right last season, it is hard to imagine the club pursuing both targets in this window.
Of course, their respective asking prices will be a factor to consider.
But as a straight choice, surely Bailey is the more appealing option for this window.
The 23-year-old is only slightly older than Chukwueze. He is producing better numbers and looks to offer a lot more versatility.
So if Everton have the funds to make a deal happen, surely Bailey is the one they must pursue.
