Report: Everton expected to announce Gueye signing before Villa clash

Everton are expected to announce the signing of Idrissa Gueye in time for the midfielder to be available for Saturday’s trip to Aston Villa, according to a report from I News.

The Toffees have been one of the busier sides in the transfer market in the last few days. On Monday, the club announced the arrival of Conor Coady on loan from Wolves.

And they swiftly followed that with the news that Amadou Onana has also come in. The youngster has arrived to bolster the midfield ranks at Goodison Park.

And the next name through the door may not be far away. Reports recently claimed that it was a matter of time before Everton confirmed the arrival of Gueye.

I News is now reporting that the 33-year-old’s move is set to be announced in time for the midfielder to face Villa. He has agreed terms with Everton. However, a severance package with Paris Saint-Germain is still in the works.

Everton expected to announce Idrissa Gueye signing

Everton have done some brilliant work since the Premier League season started. They obviously suffered a defeat against Chelsea. But the gap between the two was fairly narrow.

The Toffees really missed having a focal point up front. But the depth within the squad was also stretched with both Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina coming off. Godfrey is now set to be out for several months.

The arrival of Coady could be inspired. Meanwhile, Onana looks to have an extremely high ceiling. And Gueye is obviously no stranger to the Premier League.

In fact, his second debut could be particularly significant if it comes this weekend. It was, of course, Aston Villa where Everton signed Gueye from previously before he went on to establish himself as one of the finest holding midfielders in the Premier League.

Much has changed since then. But there is little doubt that bringing Gueye back could be incredibly shrewd from Everton.
