Report: Everton enter race for Coventry midfielder Tom Bayliss

Everton have reportedly joined the the pursuit for midfielder Tom Bayliss from League One club Coventry City.

According to TEAMtalk, Merseyside teams Everton and Liverpool have both entered the race for him.

It is understood that Newcastle United, Brighton, Middlesbrough and Leeds United have all already asked about the 20-year-old.

The report details that the English youngster does have a release clause of just £3million amid widespread interest.

Bayliss is a central midfielder that has made 41 senior appearances for Coventry this season across all competitions, scoring three goals and supplying three assists in return.

He is a developing talent that is composed on the ball and tries to dictate play from deep.

TBR’s View:

Coventry have had a number of top talents come out of their academy over the years, with James Maddison and Callum Wilson shining examples.

Bayliss is an in demand midfielder that clearly has potential given the interest in him and his release clause is minimal.

It looks unlikely he would be ready to make an immediate jump up to the Premier League though, as he’s still searching for consistency in his game.

Everton have a decent track record of developing youngsters at Goodison Park and Bayliss would surely link up with the Under-23s team if he did end up joining.
