Everton are keen to bring in Portuguese scout Jose Boto to help with their recruitment drive, according to reports in Italy.
Tutto Mercato Web reports that Everton have made contact with Shakhtar Donetsk over Boto’s availability. Boto is currently the Chief Scout at Shakhtar Donetsk – a role he has held since summer 2018.
Boto has previously been at Benfica and his success rate with scouting players has prompted Everton to have a look. With the club currently in the bottom three, there could be some activity in the January transfer window.
Marcel Brands still heads the recruitment at Goodison Park but Boto would probably join his team rather than replace him. This report states that there have been concrete discussions between Everton and Ukrainian side Shakhtar.
Boto’s experience in the scouting game could help Everton find some players to lift them out of their slump. With over 10 years of experience at Benfica before his role at Shakhtar, B0to knows how to recruit Champions League quality players.
Brands has enjoyed plenty of success with Everton’s recruitment but there could be improvements made. With two experienced heads in Boto and Brands, Everton should expect to sign some exciting talents.
