Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Mikel Arteta amid concerns that Everton could also decide to join the race for the Manchester City coach, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Arteta appears to be establishing himself as the leading candidate to succeed Unai Emery at the Emirates. The Mail has reported that the talks with the City assistant were more meaningful than discussions with any other candidate.

And it seems that the Toffees conducting their own managerial search has acted as a catalyst for Arsenal to step up their push for Arteta.
According to the Mail, the Gunners are concerned another of Arteta’s former clubs could make their own move for the Spaniard.

TBR View – Imminent conclusion to search will only be good for Arsenal
Whatever the reason, Arsenal fans will be pleased if their managerial search soon ends. Freddie Ljungberg has struggled since being put in interim charge. And a resolution is needed.
It remains to be seen how Arteta gets on – if he gets the job. But having that closure can only be good news. The uncertainty cannot be helping the Gunners as they look to rediscover some form.
Even if Arteta makes a slow start, it should be better for everyone at the club. The Gunners will have made it clear what direction they want to head in.
But Arsenal will obviously be hoping that Arteta makes Everton rue not doing more to appoint him.
