Report: Everton battling Dortmund and Inter for striker compared to Lukaku
CalcioMercato claim Everton are battling Dortmund and Inter in a three-way chase for Marcus Thuram – who has been compared to Romelu Lukaku.
Thuram, 25, is currently on the sidelines having suffered an MCL injury which forced him to undergo surgery. He will be out until well into 2022.
But despite his injury, the France international has admirers. Joining Gladbach in 2019, he played 79 times in two seasons for the German club.
In that time, he had a hand in 46 goals. Scoring 25 goals, Thuram has also laid on an impressive 21 assists – from out wide or up front.
The report claims that his form has not gone unnoticed by bigger European sides. Everton are said to be looking at Thuram, but are not alone.
Dortmund and Inter are also keen – Inter coming close to landing Thuram before he suffered the MCL issue. He has been compared to Lukaku.
Movistar commentator Alain Valnegri told El Pais in 2020: “He can be dominant and allow him to act as an offensive terminal, Lukaku style.”
Thuram to Everton: A brilliant signing, if Dom Calvert-Lewin goes
The England striker has been excellent for Everton over the last couple of years – but with good form comes a potential transfer. Arsenal are keen.
Whether Arsenal could tempt Calvert-Lewin into swapping Everton for The Emirates is one thing – but replacing him is another.
Everton will likely receive a fee above £50million for the England man. So, spending that money wisely is crucial – and Thuram would be perfect.
Pace, strength, aerial ability, goals, assists – he genuinely has it all. He is right to be compared to Lukaku because he is similar to the Chelsea ace.
Next year, TMW claim that Thuram’s release clause increases to £38million.
