Everton are aware that Newcastle United want Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but the Daily Mirror reports that the Toffees could start negotiations with an asking price of £85 million.
Newcastle are looking to win a congested race for the signature of Calvert-Lewin. The Daily Mirror reports that Arsenal and Manchester United both want the Everton striker.

Calvert-Lewin did not have the best year for the Toffees. The 25-year-old only managed to score five times in the Premier League as Frank Lampard’s side narrowly avoided relegation. And he really struggled with injury.
That does not appear to have dampened the interest in him. However, any club hoping for a considerable discount on the England international is set to be mistaken.

The Daily Mirror reports that Newcastle are ready to make a move for Calvert-Lewin. And Everton are aware that the Magpies want their talisman.
However, Everton are set to demand a massive fee before entering into any negotiations. And the Daily Mirror reports that the Toffees could set the starting figure at £85 million in talks.
Newcastle are unlikely to go anywhere near that amount. So a big compromise is certainly going to be required.
Everton aware Newcastle want Calvert-Lewin
Newcastle need a new striker this summer. They have made several strides forward in recent months. But they will have lofty ambitions for their first full season under new owners.
Signing Calvert-Lewin would be a huge statement. He is a ‘fantastic‘ striker. And he scored 16 league goals in the 2020/21 season. So he can clearly make a devastating impact in the Premier League.
But Newcastle need to look elsewhere if the Toffees dig their heels in. It does not appear that they are planning to spend insane amounts of money in this window.
Spending so much on a player with a concerning injury record is a real gamble.
If they can get Everton to lower their demands considerably, and he then has some luck with his fitness, it could be an inspired roll of the dice.
