Report: Everton ask about Ismaila Sarr; told he'll now cost £35m
Everton have asked about Ismaila Sarr ahead of the January transfer window, but Tutto Udinese reports that Watford’s asking price for the Senegal international has scared the Toffees off.
Sarr wants to leave Vicarage Road next month. The 24-year-old is one of the best players in the Championship. And he has scored six goals and contributed three assists for the Hornets.
Watford fans would hope that Sarr can lead their charge for promotion to the Premier League. But it seems that he may be on the move when the window does open.
Everton ask about Sarr
In fact, Tutto Udinese reports that Sarr is keen to leave Watford. And there has been interest from Everton, with the Toffees asking about the forward.
However, a move to Goodison Park is not currently looking likely. According to Tutto Udinese, Everton were scared off a move after learning that Watford want £35 million for Sarr.
And the report suggests that he could end up moving to Udinese if a move elsewhere does not materialise.
Plenty of Everton fans would be delighted if the Toffees could do a deal for Sarr next month. The Toffees need reinforcements when the window opens.
Frank Lampard’s men sit just outside the bottom three in the Premier League. And Wolves are the only side to have scored fewer goals so far this season.
Sarr has proven himself in the Premier League. And he can play almost anywhere across the forward line. He is also someone who knows Idrissa Gueye from the national team, so that may work in Everton’s favour.
Sarr is a ‘frightening‘ talent. But it would appear that Everton are not planning to make a move at the current price.
Having said that, there is a long way to go before the window shuts, too.
