Report: Everton are now scouting 'unbelievable' player, could replace £30m Tottenham-linked star
Everton are now scouting Brice Samba and eyeing potentially bringing him back to English football.
90Min report that the Toffees are aware of interest in their number one Jordan Pickford from the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham.
That means they are getting their scouts out there to look at potential replacements and Samba is one who has caught the eye at Lens in Ligue 1.
Both Graham Potter and Antonio Conte have question marks over their goalkeeping situations, which need long-term solutions.
Everton scouting Samba
Leicester and Brighton are also keeping tabs on Samba, who left Nottingham Forest in the summer after helping them earn promotion.
Brighton’s situation could also tie into Tottenham’s, as the report says that Spurs are keen on Robert Sanchez, who is currently first choice at the Amex Stadium.
£30 million man Pickford is currently at the World Cup with England, looking to bring back the first men’s major trophy since 1966.
Samba earned huge praise in Forest’s Championship play-off semi-final win over Sheffield United last season, including from Sky Sports pundit David Prutton.
He told the Garibaldi Red podcast: “Showmanship isn’t the word as there’s a performance element of what he does. I can safely say I’ve never seen a goalkeeper dominate a penalty shootout like that.
“The saves were exceptional. The save that was tipped onto the bar is an unbelievable reaction save.”
Pickford may need to perform more penalty heroics – just like he did at World Cup 2018 and Euro 2020 – if England are to get glory, and that is where his focus will be right now.
