Report: Everton and West Ham remain keen on Nikola Maksimovic
Everton and West Ham are both still keen on signing Napoli defender, Nikola Maksimovic, according to a report from FC Inter News.
Maksimovic was linked with a move to England in the January window, with Il Mattino claiming at the time that Spurs were in talks over a potential £9m deal for the defender.
However, now move ever materialised for Spurs or anyone else, even though both the Hammers and Toffees were said to be admirers of the defender at the time.
The 29-year-old Serbian is said to be open to leaving the Italian club and it is expected that a number of clubs will make a move for Maksimovic in the summer, with a bidding war likely.
Inter Milan are also said to be interested in the defender, who could prove a valuable addition for any potential suitors. The centre-back has been a regular for Napoli this season anyway, and, per Transfermarkt, is approaching the 100 appearances mark for the Naples club.
TBR View: Maksimovic a name who gets mentioned a lot but with good reason
If Everton or West Ham are looking for a player who can make an instant impact and comfortably contribute to the cause, then Maksimovic might be their man.
He’s got plenty of experience behind him and in simple terms, just likes to defend, which is something of a lost art in the modern game.
Transfermarkt suggest his contract is up in the summer, so whether he’d be available for free or simply at a cut-price, remains to be seen for onlooking clubs.
